First steps
How to make your first pattern - seven short steps. In the program the same list opens from the "Help" menu or with F1. Hover over any button to see a hint; the line at the bottom of the window tells you what to do next in the current tool.
-
Draw a contour
On the left, in the "Drawing" section, pick "Rectangle" (hover over the shapes button to pick another one) and click two corners - or type the width and height into the fields at the cursor: Tab - next field, Enter - done. Smooth shapes are drawn with "Contour".
-
Make it a piece
Select the contour with a click and press "Piece" on the ribbon. The piece card on the right holds its name, quantity and material.
-
Add a seam
With the piece selected, press "Seam" - a line of stitch holes runs along the whole edge. For a seam along only part of the edge, switch to "Edges" mode 2 above the drawing, select the edges you need (Shift - add) and press "Seam". The punch or iron, pitch and offset are changed in the seam card on the right.
-
Link the seams that are sewn together
Click the stitch line of one seam, Shift+click the stitch line of the other and press "Link": both sides get the same number of holes. For a piece laid over a base, such as a pocket on a panel, use "Link partly", "Flat overlay": the holes line up on top of each other.
-
Add marking and hardware
If needed: alignment notches and dimensions are in the "Marking" section on the left, snaps and rivets are on the "Workshop" tab on the right, button "Place".
-
Save the drawing
Ctrl+S.
-
Print
"File" - "Export" - PDF. Print at 100 % scale, without "Fit to page", and before cutting check the 50 × 50 mm control square with a ruler. For a laser or a plotter, SVG and DXF are there too.
